Louisiana's Incumbent Worker Training is providing businesses
the opportunity to work with government and local training
providers to ensure a properly trained workforce and a consistent
supply of employees with the skills necessary for company growth
and employee advancement. Under this state-funded program,
employers who have operated in Louisiana and contributed to the
state's Unemployment Insurance System for at least three years may
apply for Workforce Development Training funds.
Incumbent Worker Training is designed to benefit business and
industry by assisting in the skill development of existing
employees, increasing employee productivity and the growth of the
company. Companies may apply for up to $270,000 in training funds
for a two-year period.
Preferential consideration is given to those companies that
select public training providers, donate equipment and supplies to
the program, and that participate in the Welfare-to-Work
initiative.
As a public training provider the University of New Orleans is
an active participant in this program. We work with companies to
customize training programs that serve their particular needs
offering customized, client-proven workshops on more than 100
supervision, communications, computer applications, and technical
training topics and issues that organizations face in today's
competitive workplace. A sample of our programs includes:
